statement

My body of work is about human body and human nature. In my practice I am researching psychological states, inner worlds and desires, interpersonal relationships and friendships, body image perception and relationship.

Within the years I’ve noticed a shift in my understanding and definition of beauty and body image, which occurred shortly after becoming a mother. It made me forgiving and accepting. This new comprehension gave way to appreciation of so called “imperfections”, the traces of life. Comforting and recalcitrant, my new awareness allowed me to fully accept my body; at the same time it made me question the existing beauty standards. This duality stimulated my multidisciplinary approach in my practice. The precise pencil drawing, the smeary oil pastels and stone cold concrete: these are my tools in researching the mood and psyche, the flesh and, of course, the shape of a human body.
